Obverse

The design represents the flag of the European Union, a symbol that unites peoples and cultures sharing a vision and an ideal for a better common future. Twelve stars transforming into human silhouettes symbolize the birth of a new Europe. At the top right, in a semicircle, are indicated the issuing country "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" and the years "1985-2015". To the right, between the flag and the years, are the mint mark and the master's mark. The artist's initials (Georgios Stamatopoulos) appear at the bottom right. The outer ring of the coin represents the twelve stars of the European flag.
