Art de la Plume 2026 - Agatha Christie - 50 Euro Gold ¼ Oz Coin - Proof
OBVERSE
The obverse of this coin features Agatha Christie in deep thought, chin resting on her hand, holding a fountain pen between her outstretched fingers evoking a revolver. Around her are references to her iconic works: And Then There Were None (house on an island, ten silhouettes, gramophone), The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (English manor, clock, dagger), Murder on the Orient Express (train), and Death on the Nile (cruise ship, pyramids). The author's name, her dates, and the year of issue complete the composition.
REVERSE
The reverse is common to the entire "Art de la Plume" series. It features several emblematic quotes such as Voltaire's "The best is the enemy of the good," Dante Alighieri's "Lasciate ogne speranza voi ch’intrate," William Shakespeare's "To be or not to be, that is the question," and Nietzsche's "What does not kill me makes me stronger." A feather is engraved in the center of the coin. Below it is the title of the series. The mention "RF" is present at the bottom of the coin, as well as the mint marks of Joaquin Jimenez and the engraving workshop.
