Croatia 2025 - 2 Euro Commemorative Coin - 1100th Anniversary of the Kingdom of Croatia and Coronation of King Tomislav - Ruthenium
Private issue coated in ruthenium and gold leaf applied after issue
OBVERSE
On the national side of the commemorative coin is a depiction of the base motif of King Tomislav on horseback. In the background of the base motif is the recognizable Croatian symbol “hrvatska šahovnic,” which is part of the coat of arms of the Republic of Croatia established by the Law on the Coat of Arms, Flag, and Anthem of the Republic of Croatia, as well as the flag and ribbon of the President of the Republic of Croatia (“Narodne novine,” no. 55/1990, 26/1993, and 29/1994). The coin also bears inscriptions: “KRALJ TOMISLAV,” the year of King Tomislav’s coronation “925,” the issuing country “REPUBLIKA HRVATSKA,” and the year of issue “2025,” all written in a circle along the edge of the coin's core.
In the outer ring of the commemorative coin's national side are the 12 stars of the European flag, and on the edge is the italicized text “O LIJEPA O DRAGA O SLATKA SLOBODO” from the Hymn to Liberty, which is an integral part of the 17th-century pastoral “Dubravka” by Croatian writer Ivan Gundulić
