OBVERSE
The inner part of the coin depicts a profile of a Pharaoh Hound standing on rough ground, portrayed in an imposing posture. It is a medium-sized dog, elegant in appearance, powerful, and very agile. Seen in profile and from above, its head has the shape of a truncated cone. The muzzle is slightly longer than the skull. The body length, measured from the tip of the shoulder to the tip of the buttock, slightly exceeds the height at the withers. The tail is whip-shaped and attached at medium height. When lowered, it just exceeds the hock point, and when in action, it is carried high and curved.

OBVERSE
The inner part of the coin depicts a design of the city of Valletta, the capital of the Republic of Malta. The city is built on the northeast coast of the island, on the Xiberras peninsula. Originally, a long strip of land forming a plateau, culminating about sixty meters high on the Xiberras mound, which gave its name to the peninsula. The peninsula is surrounded by two natural harbors with several bays: Marsamxett Harbour to the north, and Grand Harbour to the south.
