In the upper part of the design swims the swan of Tuonela. Below it, the water ripples as the descending spirit passes. At the far right of the horizon line is the indication of the issuing country "FI". The artist's palette, showing the birth year of Akseli Gallen-Kallela, "1865", as well as the year of issue, "2015", is in the lower part of the design. Next to this palette is engraved the mint mark. Below the horizon line, the artist's name "AKSELI GALLEN KALLELA" runs along the outer ring. The outer ring of the coin represents the twelve stars of the European Union.
