OBVERSE
On the obverse, a depiction of the Lusitanian seaplane aboard which Commander and pilot Sacadura Cabral and navigator Gago Coutinho made the first South Atlantic crossing, linking Lisbon to Rio de Janeiro; on the left, the inscription “TRAVESSIA DO ATLÂNTICO SUL”; below the plane, the name of the issuing country PORTUGAL, the year of the commemorated event, 1922, and the year of issue, 2022; on the right, the signature of the engraver artist José João de Brito and the inscription CASA DA MOEDA; on the ring, the twelve emblematic European five-pointed stars pointing upwards.
REVERSE
Map of the European Union on the right side of the obverse and extending onto the outer ring, between two sets of six parallel vertical lines, each marked with a star; on the right, on the outer ring, the engraver's signature LL in a monogram.
