The inner part of the coin shows the architecture of the station depicted in all its originality. It is a reinforced concrete structure covered with a steel roof.
The reverse depicts the TGV Sud-est and the TGV Duplex side by side. The one on the left corresponds to the first train on the line, the one on the right to the very last.
Lyon-Saint-Exupéry station was put into service in 1994. Its unique architecture, resembling a bird taking flight, was designed by Spaniard Santiago Calatrava.
