OBVERSE

The red ribbon, a symbol of the fight against AIDS, appears on the obverse of the coin. Created at the initiative of the Visual AIDS Artist Caucus and the American painter Franck Moore, the red ribbon, worn close to the heart to symbolize solidarity with the sick, is shaped like an inverted V. It is intended to one day be worn as a V, signifying victory over the disease. 3 ribbons are present on the obverse. One of them is in the classic orientation (colorized in red for the BU and Proof versions). The other 2 ribbons, reversed and associated with the presence of 2 Vs, reinforce the symbolism of the much-hoped-for victory. December 1st, the date of UNESCO's "World AIDS Day," is present at the top of the coin.
