Louvre - Rembrandt
Once a palace for kings, the Louvre has mirrored French history for eight centuries.
Designed from its creation in 1793 as a universal museum, its collections, which
rank among the most beautiful in the world, cover several millennia and a
territory stretching from America to the borders of Asia. It is also the most
visited museum in the world, with no less than 8.9 million visitors in 2023. Among
its most famous works, the Louvre notably includes the Mona Lisa, the Venus
de Milo, the Seated Scribe, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, and the Code of
Hammurabi.
