Cornflower symbolically represents the flower of delicacy and shyness. Because it continued to grow in the earth turned over by the shells, it was often the only splash of color for soldiers in the trenches of the First World War. This flower has become, since 1916, a true emblem of memory and French solidarity towards veterans, war victims, widows and orphans. The Monnaie de Paris had to work on this symbol and offer a commemorative badge made in the tradition of its know-how.
The Cornflower is made of 925‰ silver and is embellished with a deposit of light blue and royal blue resin, traditional and original colors of the flower. On the back of the badge, the Monnaie de Paris logo certifies its authenticity and provenance.
