On the inner part, a design commemorating the 550th anniversary of the birth of Nicolaus Copernicus and the 480th anniversary of his death, featuring a portrait of the astronomer on the left, in front of a representation of the solar system; in the lower part, the signature of the artist engraver Daniela Fusco, the name of the issuing country MALTA and the year of issue 2023; the legend reads: “NICOLAUS COPERNICUS 1473 • 1543”; on the outer ring, the twelve emblematic European five-pointed stars pointing upwards.
