Mercanti - Jimenez - 200 Euro 1 Oz Gold - Proof 2026
In the exciting world of numismatics, few names inspire as much admiration and enthusiasm as those of John Mercanti and Joaquin Jimenez. After a first year dedicated to the great numismatic symbols of France and the United States, the collection between these two general engravers continues in 2026 with John Mercanti’s interpretation of the Eiffel Tower and Joaquin Jimenez’s interpretation of the Statue of Liberty, in honor of its 140th anniversary. In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States' independence, these creations highlight two emblematic heritages. They bear witness to the continuity of Franco-American ties and their inscription in a shared history.
OBVERSE
The obverse of this coin features the Statue of Liberty designed by Joaquin Jimenez, the 27th General Engraver of the Monnaie de Paris.
The Statue of Liberty, viewed up close from its left side, wears a crown made of the Eiffel Tower. Around it are inscribed the texts “STATUE OF LIBERTY” and “EIFFEL TOWER”. Rivets and stars complete the outline.
REVERSE
The reverse of the collection is designed by John Mercanti, the 12th Chief Engraver of the US Mint.
The Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty stand side-by-side in the center of the composition, as if reunited. A French flag attached to the Eiffel Tower flies in the wind. A laurel leaf completes the outline of the coin.
The RF and the year of issue are to the left of the Eiffel Tower. The face value and mint marks are below. John Mercanti’s mint mark is located under the laurel leaf.
