⁣⁢The design in the center of the coin symbolizes the position gained in ten years by the euro, which is now a fully-fledged global player, and its importance in daily life, with different aspects depicted: citizens (represented by a family of four), trade (the ship), industry (the factory), and energy (the wind turbines). The design is the creation of Mr. Helmut Andexlinger, a professional graphic designer at the Austrian Mint. The outer ring of the coin depicts the twelve stars of the European flag.⁤⁣
