The obverse features a stylized rainbow at the top, symbolizing hope for a world without cancer, along with the mint mark BE and the year 2024. The center depicts a heartbeat in the form of a awareness ribbon, often worn as a sign of solidarity with patients. At the bottom are the bilingual inscriptions “Lutte contre le cancer / Strijd tegen kanker” (Fight against cancer) surrounded by the initials “IB” of designer Iris Bruijns, the mint mark (an Erlenmeyer flask with an aster), and the mint mark (a caduceus) of the Royal Dutch Mint, where the coin was struck.
