The Lord of the Rings - 50 Euro Gold ¼ Oz Coin - Proof 2026
The engraving for this coin was carried out by the engraving workshop of the Monnaie de Paris based on illustrations from the graphic charter of the film The Fellowship of the Ring.
This coin illustrates the climax of the entire story, where the adventure ends but where
paradoxically all seems lost.
OBVERSE
On the obverse, Frodo appears overwhelmed by the journey he has already completed, but fearful of Sauron's growing hold over him through the Ring. Having reached the end of his quest, even as he spots Mount Doom, he realizes there will certainly be no return journey. Sauron's lidless eye, perched atop the Barad-dûr tower, constantly scans the progress of our heroes.
REVERSE
The reverse of this coin depicts the One Ring, overlooking Sauron's eye. Son
inscription, written in Black Speech and traced in Tengwar, is revealed here by the flames of Mount Doom. Each reverse is engraved with the face value, the mint marks of Monnaie de Paris, the mention RF (French Republic), as well as the year 2026 and the New Line Production copyright relating to The Lord of the Rings saga.
