OBVERSE

Motif inspired by octopuses depicted in Minoan art, listing in a series of curves the names of the twelve Eurozone countries: "Belgique/België, Deutschland, Eire, España, France, Ellada, Italia, Luxembourg, Nederland, Österreich, Portugal, Suomi". Distributed at the four ends of the "tentacles" are the three French sides of the Euro coins, and the initials "RF". The twelve stars of Europe and the face value "1½ EURO" complete the composition, evoking French uniqueness within European diversity.
