OBVERSE

inspired by one of the Republic's emblematic figures: the Genius of Liberty, commonly known as the Genius of the Bastille. The Genius is depicted nude with angel wings. In his right hand, he proudly brandishes a torch, a symbol of the light that will guide the people, while his left hand grasps a broken chain, an allegory of liberation. The design of this engraving reproduces the work sculpted by Auguste Dumont in 1836 to crown the July Column in the Place de la Bastille in Paris.

REVERSE

Inspired by the 100 Franc "Fraternity" coins (1988), the reverse, common to the trilogy, highlights the French motto. The original trunk is replaced here by a fasces, a strong symbol of the Republic, topped by a Phrygian cap, an emblem of order and liberty.
