For over 40 years, UNESCO (United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization) has been listing a list of sites like "World Heritage". Since 2007, the currency of Paris has honored various monuments classified on this list in a series of collection currencies. From 2019, the theme extends again worldwide.

In 2020, the currency of Paris honored the largest palace in the old world completed just 600 years ago: the prohibited city, located in Beijing in China.

The face represents a view of the palace of the external court, the nerve center of power in which the great decisions of the emperor were made. It is accessed by the Porte du Midi, the main entrance to the palace but also the only one today by which we can access it.

The mention "600 years of the forbidden city", on the roof of the palace is also translated into Chinese as reflecting in the courtyard. A gigantic dragon, symbol of Chinese imperial power, seems to embrace the palace and therefore protect it.

The reverse is common to all the currencies of the UNESCO series of this year 2020. It represents the terrestrial globe with the parallels and the meridians on the left part and the inscriptions of major sites listed as World Heritage of UNESCO on the right side . The left part of the globe is surrounded by the UNESCO logo as well as the "World Heritage" marking.
