In this edition of the Evolution of Life series, we meet one of our oldest ancestors - the Paranthropus.

During the quaternary period, an era which dates back approximately two and a half million years and which continues until today, several phases of glaciation (commonly known as glacial periods) modified the climate and the level of the seas So much so that they had a lasting impact on the global environment. These variations have led to a rapid evolution of life. The evolution of hominids or hominines, the family of ancient monkeys from which we come, is an example. Paranthropus, one of our first ancestors to use tools and fire, died around 600,000 years ago, other hominins species that have gradually taken over.

This "grandfather" of humanity is now represented on a part of a 9999 gold half-gram with a diameter of 11 mm.
