On the obverse, a design commemorating the hundredth anniversary of Maria Callas's birth, depicting a portrait of her on the right; in the lower part, the name of the issuing country EΛΛHNIKH ΔHMOKPATIA (in French "HELLENIC REPUBLIC"); the engraver's signature G. Stamatopoulos behind the neck; between 3 and 4 o'clock, the Greek flower called anthemion, the Athens mint mark; in the upper part, the inscription “100 ΧΡΟΝΙΑ ΑΠΟ ΤΗ ΓΕΝΝΗΣΗ ΤΗΣ ΜΑΡΙΑΣ ΚΑΛΛΑΣ” (in French "100 YEARS SINCE THE BIRTH OF MARIA CALLAS"); on the ring, the twelve emblematic five-pointed European stars pointing upwards.
