For the 80th anniversary of theCall of 18 June 1940, of the 130th anniversary of the birth of Charles de Gaulle and the 50th anniversary of his death, this coin commemorates one of the most significant French leaders in history.
On the obverse of this coin, you can see Charles de Gaulle thanks to two engravings of his profile. These two engravings commemorate two important facets of his life: his military career and his political career. The Cross of Lorraine, which represents freedom and the unification of the France, also appears on the obverse of the coin. This cross was associated with General de Gaulle and was also erected at his memorial located in Colombey-les-Deux-Églises.
