The design depicts the EU flag, a symbol that unites peoples and cultures sharing a vision and an ideal for a better common future. Twelve stars transforming into human silhouettes symbolize the birth of a new Europe. In the upper right, in a semicircle, is indicated the issuing country, "ΚΥΠΡΟΣ KIBRIS", and the years, "1985-2015". The artist's initials (Georgios Stamatopoulos) appear at the bottom right. The outer ring of the coin depicts the twelve stars of the European flag.
