This collection of gold coins highlights the significant dates in the history of Notre-Dame de Paris.

OBVERSE

• 1239 – The Precious Relic 

The king and a brilliant procession welcoming 22 relics to Villeneuve-l'Archevêque, the most precious of which is depicted at the center of the coin: the Holy Crown worn by Christ before his crucifixion. 

• 1789 – The Temple of Reason

Members of the Cult of Reason, a radical atheist movement derived from Enlightenment philosophy, looting the Cathedral during the Revolution. 

• 1944 – The Magnificat 

Upon the liberation of Paris, General de Gaulle went to Notre-Dame to attend the Te Deum dedicated to victory. However, it was ultimately a Magnificat, a prayer dedicated to Saint Mary, that was sung in his presence.
