This series of 12 coins, illustrated with different dinosaurs, will be issued at a rate of one coin per quarter during the years 2019 to 2022. Partially colored, these coins have the unique feature of being luminescent in the dark, making the animals depicted on these twelve coins active at night and creating a light effect.⁤⁣

⁣⁢- The inner part of the coin depicts an Arambourgiania in flight; it is the largest flying animal to have ever dominated the skies and became extinct 66 million years ago. With a beak like a pelican, a neck like a giraffe, wings like a giant bat, and a crest like a Mohican haircut. In the lower part, the name of the dinosaur "ARAMBOURGIANIA" and the year of issue "2020".⁤⁣

⁣⁢The reverse is a common composition for this series, featuring a representation of the 12 prehistoric animals: a pinasaurus, a mosasaurus, an arambourgiania, an ankylosaurus, a tyrannosaurus, a therizinosaurus, a deinonychus, a styracosaurus, an argentinosaurus, a microraptor, a pachycephalosaurus, and an ornithomimus. Between the animals are stylized representations of flora and the name of the issuing country "Republik Osterreich" and the face value "3 euro".⁤⁣

⁣⁢Each of the 12 prehistoric beasts featured in the series possessed an exceptional quality, such as the most sophisticated hunting techniques, the longest claws, or the most powerful bite, to name just a few.⁤⁣

⁣⁢Researchers estimate that the largest species had a neck 3 meters long, a wingspan of 13 meters, and stood 5 meters tall.
The first vertebrates known to have evolved powered flight, pterosaurs are often called "flying dinosaurs." While this is not the case, they were more closely related to dinosaurs than to contemporary reptiles like the crocodile.⁤⁣
