Mickey Mouse, star of the Disney studios, was drawn in 1928 by Walt Disney and Ub
Iwerks to replace the character Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Inspired both
by a pet mouse Walt Disney had adopted in his youth and by the
animated characters of the time, Mickey made his first appearance the
same year in the short film "Steamboat Willie" where he plays a sailor on a
steamboat. Since this first historic appearance, Mickey Mouse has
become the iconic symbol of Disney, propelling the studios to
international success. The reverse is common to the mini-medals from the Paris Mint and
features a view of the mint surrounded by stars. The year 2023 is
also present above the edge.
