OBVERSE

The design at the center of the coin symbolizes the position the euro has gained in ten years, now a fully-fledged global player, and its importance in daily life, with different aspects depicted: citizens (represented by a family of four), trade (the ship), industry (the factory), and energy (the wind turbines). The design is the creation of Mr. Helmut Andexlinger, a professional graphic designer at the Austrian Mint. The outer ring of the coin represents the twelve stars of the European flag.

The mint mark "A", "D", "F", "G", or "J" (each letter corresponding to a mint) appears to the right of the design.
