⁣⁢The design depicts a 16th-century ship, symbolizing the arrival of Portuguese navigators on the island, and a thatched roof characteristic of local houses, with its typical wood carvings that perpetuate myths and legends. The carving on the coin evokes the history of the first inhabitants, who arrived by boat from other regions of Asia, and the importance of horses for travel in the steep mountains that cover most of the island. In the upper right are the year "1515" and the name of the issuing country, "PORTUGAL". In the lower left are the inscription "TIMOR" and the year "2015". At the bottom is the artist's signature, Fernando Fonseca.
