The engraving for this coin was created by the Paris Mint's engraving workshop using illustrations from the graphic charter of the film The Fellowship of the Ring.

Thus, the composition of this coin takes the form of a duel between the two forces present in this second installment.

OBVERSE

⁣⁢On the obverse, on one side, the wizard Saruman, who has allied himself with Sauron and made Isengard the seat of a new military power. His growing power and his sprawling influence over the human peoples are represented by the Orthanc tower, the site of his unnatural experiments which will see him single-handedly create an army capable of annihilating humans.
On the other side, Aragorn, who throughout the story will shed the persona of Strider, the Ranger, to don that of a war leader. He will prove to be a unifier and will lead the people of Rohan (found on the map of Middle-earth in the background) to unite to resist the threat of Saruman's army. ⁤⁣

REVERSE

The reverse of this coin depicts the One Ring, overlooking the Eye of Sauron and enhanced by a selective gold plating. Its inscription, written in Black Speech and transcribed in Tengwar, is revealed here by the flames of Mount Doom. Each reverse is engraved with the face value, the hallmarks of the Paris Mint, the mention RF (French Republic), as well as the year 2026 and the New Line Production copyright relating to The Lord of the Rings saga.
