The Lord of the Rings - ¼ Oz Gold Coin 50 Euros - Proof 2026
The engraving for this coin was created by the Paris Mint's engraving workshop using illustrations from the graphic charter of the film The Fellowship of the Ring.
This coin illustrates the climax of the entire story, where the adventure ends but where
paradoxically all seems lost.
OBVERSE
On the obverse, Frodo appears overwhelmed by the journey he has already undertaken, but fearful of Sauron's growing hold over him through the Ring. Reaching the end of his quest, even as he sights Mount Doom, he realizes there will likely be no journey back. Sauron's lidless eye, perched atop the tower of Barad-dûr, constantly scrutinizes the progress of our heroes.
REVERSE
The reverse of this coin depicts the One Ring, overlooking the Eye of Sauron. Its
inscription, written in Black Speech and transcribed in Tengwar, is revealed here by the flames of Mount Doom. Each reverse is engraved with the face value, the hallmarks of the Paris Mint, the mention RF (French Republic), as well as the year 2026 and the New Line Production copyright relating to The Lord of the Rings saga.
