OBVERSE

The red ribbon, a symbol of the fight against AIDS, appears on the face of the coin. Created at the initiative of the Visual AIDS Artist Caucus and the American painter Frank Moore, the red ribbon, worn close to the heart to symbolize solidarity with those affected by the disease, is shaped like an inverted V. It is intended to be worn one day as a V, signifying victory over the illness. 3 ribbons are present on the face. One of them is in the classic orientation (colored red for the BU and BE versions). The other 2 ribbons, reversed, associated with the presence of 2 V's, reinforce the symbolism of the much-hoped-for victory. December 1st, the date of UNESCO's "World AIDS Day," is present at the top of the coin.
