⁣⁢This majestic ecu represents the last king of France from the Ancien Régime period. Louis XVI was King of France and Navarre from 1774 to 1791, and from 1791 to 1792, he became King of the French. He was also the last king to reside at the Palace of Versailles before initiating a war between absolute monarchies and revolutionaries. He was then indicted for treason, accused of not respecting his constitutional role, secretly maneuvering against the Revolution, and attempting to flee France in June 1791. The Assembly decided to try the king. He was sentenced to death and guillotined on January 21, 1793.⁤⁣
