⁣⁢This coin is the third issue in the five-part series "Earth's Climate Zones," which began in 2017 and will be issued once a year until 2021.⁤⁣

⁣⁢The design of the commemorative side is by artist Peter Lasch from Berlin. The value side, which is used for all coins in the series, was designed by artist Stefanie Radtke from Leipzig.⁤⁣

⁣⁢On the image side, the development of the cultural landscape, which is particularly characteristic of the temperate zone, is represented by stylized arable land with a suggested forest edge. The field hare placed in the center is representative of the open landscapes of the temperate zone. The change of seasons typical of this climate zone is expressed by the autumnal oak branch. The silhouette depicts the deciduous mixed forest that characterizes the landscape and areas.⁤⁣

⁣⁢The value side shows an eagle, the inscription "BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND," the value, the year 2019, the twelve European stars, and – depending on the Mint – the mint mark "A" (Berlin), "D" (Munich), "F" (Stuttgart), "G" (Karlsruhe), or "J" (Hamburg).⁤⁣

⁣⁢The smooth edge of the coin bears a recessed inscription: KLIMAZONEN DER ERDE ∙⁤⁣

⁣⁢The "5 Euro Temperate Zone" coin consists of two different copper-nickel alloys and a translucent polymer ring.⁤⁣
