The inner part of the coin depicts the cathedral, the Alcázar, and the Archive of the Indies in Seville. These three buildings form an admirable monumental ensemble in the very heart of Seville. The first two bear exceptional testimony to the Almohad civilization and to Christian Andalusia, deeply influenced by Moorish styles from the Reconquista in 1248 through the 16th century. The Giralda minaret, a masterpiece of Almohad architecture, stands next to the five-nave cathedral, which is the largest Gothic building in Europe and houses the gigantic tomb of Christopher Columbus. The former Lonja, now the Archive of the Indies, preserves the most precious archives relating to the American colonies. Along the upper rim is the inscription "Sevilla," and at the bottom, the name of the issuing country "ESPANA," the year of issue "2024," and the mint mark of the Spanish Mint.
