OBVERSE

Pole vaulting is depicted on the 2024 coins. This sport is an athletics event that is part of the jumping disciplines. It involves a run-up of about fifty meters, using a flexible pole to clear a horizontal bar placed several meters high without knocking it down. Its roots can be found in ancient Greece, where pole vaulting was used as a means of locomotion to cross streams, clear hedges, or escape wild animals using long pieces of rigid wood.

REVERSE

The reverse, common to the series, features a view of Paris where the Seine takes on the appearance of a running track. The Eiffel Tower dominates the city and illuminates the competition.
