The Regions 2026 - Grand Est - 5 Euro Silver Coin - BU
OBVERSE
The obverse of this coin is adorned with identity elements of the Grand Est region, offering a glimpse into the territory's richness.
In the center of the design, the region's name is inscribed vertically along the spire of Strasbourg Cathedral. The edifice stands on the right of the design, representing the architecture of Grand Est and specifically the region's prefecture. Another symbol of Alsace, a stork surmounts the cathedral. On the left, the imposing silhouette of a vine leaf frames the portrait of Clovis, the first king of the Franks and
an emblematic historical figure of the region, linked to a famous event in its history: his baptism in Reims.
Finally, a bunch of grapes, connected to a vine leaf, recalls an activity common to several territories in the region: viticulture, particularly developed in Champagne and Alsace.
REVERSE
This common reverse for the round coins in the collection brings together all the regions that make up French territory. The outline of the design is covered by sandblasted discs of different diameters. They form the silhouette of metropolitan France, distinguished by its polished finish.
On the surface, we find the letters RF struck with the French flag in heraldry, and the face value of 5€.
The names of all metropolitan French regions are inscribed at their geographical locations. On the discs south of metropolitan France, the silhouettes of Corsica and the overseas departments and regions are recognizable: Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Réunion, and Mayotte.
