The Dutch euro coins feature two different designs. On each, you can see the effigy of Queen Beatrix, created by Bruno Ninaber van Eyben. All designs bear the twelve stars of the European Union. In addition to the year of issue, the coins bear the text BEATRIX, KONINGIN DER NEDERLANDEN (Beatrix, Queen of the Netherlands). This inscription is written in an arc on the cent coins, and vertically on the 1 and 2 euro coins, similar to the old guilder.
