OBVERSE

In the foreground, a Roman murmillo, equipped with a shield and gladius, facing a lion. This scene recalls the "shows" that took place in the Colosseum, where gladiators fought wild beasts to entertain the public. In the background, the left part of the Colosseum in detailed view and the right part in a schematic outline of the structure to evoke its construction/reconstruction.

REVERSE

The reverse is common to all coins in this year's UNESCO series, 2020. It depicts the globe with parallels and meridians on the left and inscriptions of major sites classified as UNESCO World Heritage on the right. These inscriptions are as if carved in stone, echoing the Rosetta Stone. The left part of the globe is surrounded by the UNESCO logo and the "World Heritage" marking. The face value is inscribed in the left part of the globe, blending perfectly with the parallels and meridians.
