Vatican - 2 Euro commemorative - 150th anniversary of the birth of Pope Paul VI - BE 2022
Obverse
This year marks the 125th anniversary of the birth of Giovanni Battista Montini, born in Concesio in 1897 and elected Pope in 1963 under the name of Paul VI. The Vatican State currency celebrates this anniversary with the 2 euros bimetallic piece in a brilliant double-circulation version and numismatic test. On the room, we see the smiling pope and opening his arms wide with the gesture he often used to greet the crowds. He wears the cassock tied at the waist with a fascia wearing the coat of arms of his pontificate embroidered on the bottom, his cape and his coat. Our artist Daniela Longo carried out the engraving on the reverse of the play representing the tapestry exhibited on the facade of the Saint-Pierre basilica during the beatification of Paul VI. The celebration took place on October 19, 2014 under the chairmanship of Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benoît XVI.
