During the European Football Championship 2020, which was postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic, the artist Thomas Serres designed for the German monetary institute a reason for this 20 euros silver piece. The championship takes place for the first time on the entire European continent and even in Asia with Baku.

A currency and a football ball generally have a common geometric characteristic: their shape is round.
