For the 80th anniversary of the call of June 18, 1940, the 130th anniversary of the birth of Charles de Gaulle and the 50th anniversary of his death, this currency commemorates one of the most significant French leaders in history.
You can see on the obverse of this Charles de Gaulle currency thanks to two engravings of its profile. These two engravings commemorate two important facets of his life: his military career and his political career. The Cross of Lorraine, which represents the freedom and unification of France, also appears on the reverse of the currency. This cross was associated with General de Gaulle and was also erected at his memorial located in Colombey-les-Deux-Églises.
